DING-JO CURRIE, Ph.D. (Chair)
President
Coastline Community College

Dr. Ding-Jo Currie, president of Coastline Community College, has been a leader in higher education for more than 25 years. She holds a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Southern California, and also holds degrees in math, psychology, and counseling. Dr. Currie has served in leadership roles in many capacities from instruction to student services, to economic development. She also has extensive experience in accreditation, and has served on many evaluation teams. Dr. Currie was elected to the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Board of Directors and appointed to the organization’s executive committee this year. She also serves on various national and statewide committees and is the recipient of many awards.

 



MARY ANN BRECKELL
Vice President of Administration
Los Angeles Trade Technical College

Mary Ann Breckell is the vice president of administration at Los Angeles Trade Technical College.  The position is responsible for athletics, bookstore, communication services, budget, media services, payroll/personnel, plant facilities, police, purchasing, reprographics, technology and the facilities bond program.  Prior to moving to Trade Tech, she served in the same position at Los Angeles Valley College.  She has also served as a coordinator in Administrative Services, athletic director, head basketball coach, assistant softball coach and physical education instructor.  She holds a bachelor’s degree from UCLA and an master’s degree from Cal Lutheran University.



JOHN CARROLL
Dean of Student Services
Hawaii Community College

John Carroll started his professional career in education as a high school teacher first in Yap, Federated States of Micronesia, and then at Marshall Islands High School in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.  He next earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Communications and Technology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Doctorate in Compartive and International Education from UCLA.  He became a community college administrator in 1988 while working at the College of Micronesia.  He moved to Guam Community College in 1990 where he served as the dean of the School of Business, Social Science, and Tourism.  In 1994 he and his family moved to Hilo, Hawaii, where he is the dean of student services at Hawaii Community College.  He participated in writing self-studies, been an accreditation liaison officer, and served on three previous accreditation teams. 



JUDY CATER
Library Dept. Chair & Acquisitions Librarian
Palomar College

Judy Cater is the library department chair and acquisitions librarian at Palomar College in San Marcos, California. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in American Culture from Mount Holyoke College, a Master of Science Degree in Library Science from Simmons College and a Master of Arts Degree in History from the University of San Diego. A community college librarian since 1975, she has served as president of the faculty at Palomar College, vice president of the faculty senate, co- chair of the curriculum committee and library director. She is currently the faculty co-chair of Palomar's Sabbatical Leave Committee and a member of the American Library and California Library associations. This will be her 10th  site visit.



GAIL CONRAD
Coordinator of Disability Support Programs
San Diego Mesa College

Gail Conrad is a graduate of San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Occupational Therapy and a minor in psychology. She also holds a Master of Science Degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in adaptives from Humboldt State University (CSU).  She has worked at College of the Redwoods and currently at San Diego Mesa College as the coordinator of Disability Support Programs & Services, a 12- month faculty position.  She served as President of the California Association of Postsecondary Education & Disability (CAPED) from 1996-98, and was the Academic Senate President at San Diego Mesa College from 2003-2005.



ERIN CURTIS
Associate Vice Chancellor of Education
& External Affairs
Coast Community College

Erin Curtis is the associate vice chancellor of Educational & External Affairs at the Coast Community College District. She oversees public affairs, government relations and educational services for the district, and is currently interim dean of the Business & Computing Division at Orange Coast College. She has been at the Coast CCD for more than four years, and prior to her current assignment served as the director of public affairs. Ms. Curtis has a bachelor's degree in political science and journalism from California State University, Sacramento, and a master's degree in public administration from California State University, Long Beach. She has also taught part-time at Orange Coast College.



KATHLEEN FLYNN, Ph.D.
Master Planning Coordinator
Glendale Community College

Dr. Kathleen Flynn is the master planning coordinator for Glendale College in Glendale, California.  In addition, she is a professor of credit English as a Second Language.  She chaired Glendale College’s Self-Study Report for the accreditation team visit in 2004.  She has more than 25 years experience in university and college teaching in the United States and abroad.  Dr. Flynn has taught in New York, Louisiana, California and Greece.  She has also conducted teacher training overseas.  She has served on the board of CATESOL and is the author of eight textbooks



KENDRA JEFFCOAT, Ph.D.
Vice President for Academic Services
Imperial Valley College

Dr. Kendra Jeffcoat egan her career in community colleges in 1970 as a faculty member at Chaffey College in California.  She taught psychology and speech for more than 25 years, at Middlesex Community College in Connecticut, Imperial Valley College in California, and Palomar College in California.  She has served in numerous administrative positions, including special assistant to the president (Palomar College), Dean of Social/Behavioral Sciences and Multicultural Studies (Mesa College), and interim assistant chancellor for academic services (San Diego Community College District).  She currently serves as vice president for Academic Services at Imperial Valley College.  She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Speech Communication from UCLA, and a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology from Connecticut College,and a doctorate in organizational psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology.



DAN WALDEN
Dean of Institutional Planning & Research
Los Angeles Southwest College

Dan Walden as a graduate of Cerritos College; California State University Long Beach; Fuller Theological Seminary; and Claremont Graduate University.  He is currently completing his doctorate in education with a focus in higher education administration at Claremont University.   His work as dean of Institutional Planning & Research at Los Angeles Southwest College employs a systematic analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data to support college decision-making in regard to policy and planning, and institutional effectiveness and improvement, including accreditation, and academic and student service program reviews.  His particular interest lies in enhancing the college’s ability to improve the quality of educational delivery to improve student learning outcomes.



DON WARKENTIN
President
West Hills College

Don Warkentin is the president of West Hills College Lemoore which is undergoing its initial accreditation with a team visit scheduled for February 2006.  He has been with West Hills College Lemoore since 1986, first serving as the associate dean of the Lemoore Center.  Prior to being named president in July, he served as the dean of Student Services.  He holds a master’s degree in educational administration from California State University, Fresno, and a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from California State University, Chico.
